The Titus Regional Medical Foundation “All is Bright” fundraiser raised $11,000, doubling its proceeds from last year, Foundation Executive Director Gordon Hall reported to the members of the Titus County Hospital District Board of Manager Monday evening.
“The employees really got behind it,” said Hall, “It generated a lot of excitement and the public responded.”
Another $1,200 was raised from the sale of the employee Christmas trees after the event held Dec. 13, he said, and the employees also held a bake sale.
The fundraiser benefitted from a “substantial contribution” made by Dr. Milan Sekulic, said Hall.
All the money is going towards the renovation and expansion of the hospital’s chapel, he noted.
Titus Regional Medical Center (TRMC) CEO Ron Davis noted that the chapel improvements will include new furniture and new carpeting, as well as the installation of a stained glass window.
He added that at a recent dinner the hospital’s chaplains told them they are “thrilled” about the overhaul of the chapel. “They really felt good we are moving ahead with this project,” said Davis. “They totally support it.”
In another part of his report, Hall said he recently attended a grant writing workshop held in Mount Pleasant. “We’d like to get something going on there,” he said.
One interesting point was that the workshop focused mostly on submitting grant proposals to private foundations. With the current state of the economy, “they’re not even bothering with the feds at this point.”
