A heat advisory has been issued today for all Titus County Residents from the National Weather Service.

Titus County Cares (TCC) Executive Director Teresa Price says a cooling station location will be open at Calvary Chapel at 411 N. Van Buren from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. today for those who may not have access to a cool place to stay during the hottest time of the day.  Children may not be dropped off, but are welcome with an adult.

Please take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Wear light weight and loose fitting clothing when possible and drink plenty of water.

To reduce risk during outdoor work, schedule frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. heat stroke is an emergency - call 911.

If you have further questions regarding this, please call Titus County Cares at 903-575-9157.
