WINFIELD – James “Jake” K. Narramore, 89, of Winfield died Friday, August 24, 2012 in Plano. Services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, August 26, 2012 at the Bates-Cooper-Sloan Chapel with Bro. Hoyt Scoggin and Bro. Gary Brown officiating. Interment followed at Winfield Cemetery under the direction of Bates-Cooper-Sloan Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Paul Lindsey, Paul Davidson, Wiley Carpenter, Sam Russell, Leonard Rockwell, and John Smith. Honorary pallbearers were Pat Beck, Shine Fleming, and Rex Narramore.

Mr. Narramore was born April 20, 1923 in Winfield to Cranford Narramore and Michel Cody Narramore. He was a post master for the United States Postal Service. He was a volunteer fireman in Winfield for 35 years, served as mayor of Winfield, was president of the Winfield Cemetery Association, a member of the NAACP, and a devout Democrat.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Norma Narramore of Winfield; three daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and Richard Crim, Norma Lee and Robert Spangler, and Patti and Mike Wofford; son, Dal Narramore; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Annette Narramore; 10 grandchildren, Jennica, Jessica, Kris, Deborah Lee, Angie, Gary, Ashley, Aaron, Dala, and Nick; seven great-grandchildren, Anisa, Austin, Cody, Colton, Caden, Avery, and Maitland; and sister Wynell Gaddie.

He is preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.

No visitation was scheduled.
