MALAKOFF - Reverend Digie M. Hamilton, 53, of Malakoff, died Monday, August 11, 2014 in Tyler. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 16, 2014 at Ebenezer A. M. E. Church 1101 West Queen Street, Tyler Texas 75702 with Rev. William Burton officiating. Burial will follow at Blunder Creek Cemetery in Mount Pleasant under the direction of John R. Harmon Undertaking Co. in Tyler.
Digie was born on April 5, 1961 to Ola Hamilton and Brighteen Bryson in Titus County. He attended Mount Pleasant public schools and then graduated from Paul Quinn College. He was affiliated with Anderson Chapel A.M.E. Church in Palestine and St. Paul A. M. E. Church in Oakwood. Rev. Hamilton was the owner of ADS Driving School and proudly served on several committees within the A.M.E. Church.
He is survived by his daughter Jasmine Jeffery (John) of Mount Pleasant; brothers, Bobby Thomas of Dallas and Waylon Johnson of Lone Star; sisters, Bobbie Mae McGill, JoAnn Fields and Sherry Brewer (Richard) all of Mount Pleasant and Vickie Bryson of Lone Star; god-daughter Bernita Roche Murray, and special niece LaToya Johnson.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother and sister Dennie and Lennie Hamilton.
Viewing will be Friday, August 15, 2014 from 1 - 10 p.m. at the John R. Harmon Undertaking Co., 1112 North Palace Avenue, Tyler, Texas 75702.
